Lately, I feel like if my head weren't attached I'd forget it as I walk out the door each morning!
This past week I finally started making one huge to-do list. I even took a photo of it, because it looked monstrous, but then chose not to post it because you would all probably laugh at some of the things I had to write down for myself. I literally put everything except for eating, sleeping, breathing and going to the bathroom on the list. Once I made the list, then I wrote down goal dates for each task. Then I created a daily to-do list from there. Ridiculous? I'm not sure, but it made me feel more sane and certainly more organized.
I have fallen way behind in blogging (well, if that is something you can really fall "behind" on), but today as I was tackling my last long run before the half-marathon, I was conjuring up all of sorts of various blog posts and felt the need to just sit down and write.
We are all busy people. We all have the same 24-hours in the day, and I wonder how all of you organize yours to make the most of them. I am trying to become a more organized person and would love to hear ideas!
You didn't put down eating?? I sometimes do just so I can be sure that I get something crossed off throughout the day! :) I like to add things that I've already done too just to cross them off and make me feel like I've accomplished something. :)
ReplyDeleteI carry around a black Moleskine notebook that looks like a journal and a pen at all times. I write to-do list notes daily and do not move the marker until that to-do list is complete so that I have to keep going back to that page. Time sensitive things are sometimes starred and dated with a deadline.
ReplyDeleteI also try to simplify by providing various details in writing that will help me complete the project, i.e. a phone number of a business I have to call.
I review my moleskine every morning with coffee, sometimes over lunch and always before I go to bed. My to-do list is always a work in progress so this helps me stay organized no matter where I am at or what I am doing. Plus I also take little notes in it on various ideas or things I want to remember.
Also, I put a check on the number when it is in progress to show that it is in the works, or an X in the number to show that it has been tabled.
