I have never been big on making New Year's Resolutions. Maybe because it seemed too cliche. But this year is different. I have had so many changes nagging at me, that I keep putting to the back of my mind. 2010 is going to bring about changes for our family, and so I am setting goals - not resolutions. Goals. Commitments, to the Lord, my family and myself. I am posting these goals (in no particular order of importance) to be held accountable, to spark some conversation, for prayers, and to hear yours!
The inspiration for these goals: "Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is." - Ephesians 5:15-17
Time Management
Ever since becoming a stay-at-home mom I have been SO lousy at managing my time. I have this mindset that I will get it done "next" or there's "time tomorrow" or "after that load of laundry". So, I intend to have everything on a schedule. Daily workouts, meal time, play time, house work time, me time, etc. Oh, and I intend to stick to it. Tips, suggestions, advice all welcome (really.).
Meal Planning
On Sunday evening, I typically plan out dinners for the week. I base my grocery shopping for that week around that list, and then the basic staples. Inevitably, I end up making what I feel like for that evening. Thus, fresh food goes bad and frozen food gets lost in the back of the freezer (does anyone else have a freezer that gobbles up all those good meal ideas that you once had?). In an attempt to be healthy, I am going to plan all meals for all days, taking in to account that a) we still like to eat out or order pizza every now and again and b) sometimes plans change. But, I'm hoping this will allow me to be more frugal, watch for the "Hot Deals" and just be all around more organized (see above). Oh, and side note... Once we move, I think we need to invest in a deep freeze.
My Walk with the Lord
Self explanatory. I just want to grow here. I want to be consistent.
Reading
I am going to read at least one book per week, definitely going to have to plan my time now (again, see above). I will vary between fiction and non-fiction, just to have some variety. But, I have a stack of books at home that I have had good intentions of reading and so many great suggestions from other people. I just can't get enough but never seem to make the time to dig in. And, that being said, maybe one of my goals should be a weekly bubble bath (tongue in cheek).
I know there are more goals that the Lord has been placing on my heart. But, alas, this is all I have for now!
